Say hello to Pearl. Pearl is a 1973 Volvo 164E. 3.0 litres of straight six 138HP (in 1973... at the flywheel) fuel injected fury. She has four wheel disc breaks and like I mentioned she has Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection system.

I bought her from a gent on the IPD classifieds for 1650. He informed me that the vehicle was owned by none other than LA Dodger great Don Drysdale. I have the paperwork pending with the Cali DMV to verify that.
It was a complete accident that I found her (I was browsing 240s and 1800s at the time).
When I received her, she had a bad injector on number 1 that was causing a misfire. I purchased a set of remans at 44 a pop and new plugs and wires. Ran much better. She still had a problem with dying at intersections and stop lights. I found a kinked air hose, replaced that and solved that problem. I then went about and purchased a set of sport springs, Bilstein HD shocks, upper and lower ball joints, K&N air filter, fuel filter, tie rods, blue coil, senders and switches, fuses, rotors, pads, wheel bearing kits, fuel pumps, starter motor, et cetera. I've yet to install 90% of that (bad weather combined with a recent lack of free weekends). I've also ordered a set of Addco anti-sway bars (IPD no longer manufactures them).

I plan on getting a majority of that on the car Wed.
What I'm looking to do now is to find some resources on tuning the D-Jetronic, or D-Jet system. In 1972 the same engine produced 175 at the flywheel, then to meet smog standards, it was downtuned to get 138 at the flywheel. I would like to tune that to the opposite direction. If anyone has any experience with the DJet system, please drop me a line at Crispulus@yahoo.com. I love to know how to increase my compression and HP to a reasonable standard.

The body of the car is in abfab shape. One dent on the driver side rear door, minor. And one dent on one the head lamp housiing, minor. The paint, is very subpar. A simple single stage was laid over the original code 42 colour, something called cascade white. I have a fantastic body work man whom I will be employing next summer to do the paint proper, strip, code 42, and clear it. For this summer, some simple touch up paint will have to sufice. I do, however, plan on painting the lesser coat of arms of Sweden on that massive air filter and the Swedish flag on the underbody of the hood.

Well, that's all I have for now. I also have an 84 244DL and a 93 945 Turbo, but they are not important right now.
UPDATE TIME. I've installed the suspension and while I love the handling, I wish I had bought KYB instead of Bilsteins. I feel every bump. I also put on a chrome valve cover and painted that massive air filter housing.

Saddenly, winter is fast aproaching so I will soon have to board her up for the winter. Bollocks.
