Greetings and salutations, friend . This is the story of my 87 Honda CRX HF . She and I have been a couple since I drove her off the showroom floor of Putnam Windh in January 87 . A 230,000 mile adventure whether we're chasin' thunderstorms or just going to work . Light , agile , and a load of fun to drive ... Great gas mileage to boot .. still 42-44 driven around town and 50+ mpg on the long interstate hauls .

A brief history : She was stolen and recovered , and has been violated by thieves some 29 times . Thats about 14 replaced windows , and not a few replaced doorlocks ...and more radios and CD's than i care to count .

The CRX gets some of its light weight from the use of ABS/pc plastic parts . The header panel is usually first to go , then stress cracks at the bolt points on the front fenders . Project : Do-over began when the header panel finally cracked all the way in half .. shown here held together with the ubiquitous Duck Tape.
She picked up a few battle wounds ... the front bumper cracked when it was eaten by a massive pothole in Reno, NV at S. Virginia and Plumb.
.

Oh, and did i mention what multiple slide hammer jobs to your doorlocks do ?
So , lets take it apart ..

and throw the new header panel and fenders on

Bought a 'body kit' for Christmas .. just hanging the front bumper on here so I get an idea what I'm in for. Silly me thought these were gonna be bolt-on replacements . lesson learned.
I hand sanded down to metal and primer in Hotrod black . I'd leave it that color if it wasn't so hard to keep clean .
