Thats a new tree for our garden on the back. By itself it was taller than the Avalanche - the photo doesn't do the spectacle of the tree on the truck any justice! It was another 20 miles home.

Checking in for breakfast in Kuwait City.

Valet gets the privilege to drive a proper truck. New towers going up in the background.

On a visit to a farming community one and a half mile from the Saudi border. It was mid summer. My 3yo daughter got her 10 minutes of "gotto get out Daddy" (here heading back to her ride, and meal ticket).

Indicated ambient temperature whilst driving peaked at 56C/133F. Some time later it was back to a "normal" 48C/119F

This is what a "local store" looks like when you venture out to the desert areas. These box trucks never move an inch, but local regulations stipulate that you may have a "mobile shop", but not a permanent fixture. Believe me, these shops..errr trucks, are permanent! Nissan pickup in the front is a perenial favorite with the "peoples of the desert" (bedoun tribes). I've seen one of these climb a mean mile long dune of dirt and sand with wheelspin fantails three to four times as long as the vehicle itself, with the motor running against the rev limiter and in second gear. I was amazed.

Dare I say the forerunner of our Avalanche? I think so yes. An honest Chevy truck laboring through mid day heat to deliver animal feed. Driver had his window open - that means no airconditioning. It was 130F+ outside with foot high driven sand...

Parked under the famous AlBoom II - the largest wooden dhow in the world (non-sea going) next to the Radisson SAS Hotel in Kuwait. It is massive! ...and so is the dhow.
