Shark History

Sept, 1983 (Me & A New Shark)

July 2009 (I took these 7-17-09 after a Buff on the paint)
The TA is a late 83, I waited for Pontiac to start production with the improved performance package including the L-69 HO-block, 800 cfm carb, and 5-speed, along with a Posi rearend.
There were 661 of these vehicles produced.
I am the original and only owner of this TA, and had the car brought in through the local Pontiac dealer. I just could not find a TA with the option package I was looking for, other than to order it with /T-Tops /A-C / Power windows / Deluxe interior package /Functional Cowl induction Hood,
many of the 3rd Gens cowl hoods were non-functional.
The TA was my daily driver, and was retired under the car cover in the garage in 1994 due to the family expanding and moving into the SUV world, and the TA remained there, only driven in the neighborhood on occasions.

FROM UNDER THE COVER

In 2009 I got serious on the restoration and performance mods.

My target was to bring the car back to life with the goal of keeping the integrity of the era, but with additional HP and nice Bling under the hood, with the reliability of being able to drive it cross country with no worries.
The TA can do 80+ mph in 100+ heat, A/C throwing out ice, and the temp guage stays calm for 200 miles of desert and mountain passes.

REGARDING THE BUILD
The build started at the block, replacing…basically everything, I spared no expense and cut no corners to insure the replacement parts were High Quality and Performance Oriented as possible, with show quality shine, and with that, the vehicle had to meet Oregon’s DEQ standards test (passed no worries).
I have a laundry list of parts that have been included in the engine and drive train...just to much to list!
During the build I found that Edelbrock was the best way to go for performance, quality and the over-all bling effect.

September 2009
The custom shifter knob was spun for me by Bruce at Kool Knobs, and it really brings the interior to life, and is very comfortable to shift with. Bruce is a true craftsman, and will spin a custom knob per your custom request...Just Tell Him The Shark Sent You.

If there is anything I have done to the TA that you find interesting, and would like information on, feel free to shoot me a PM, I will get back to you.
