5/17/09 got my Jeep Comanche. Its a 1988 with the peugot ba 10/5 (5 speed manual) with the 242ci straight 6 (4L). unfortunately it has 2wd, but that is sufficient for my needs as of now. the guy from whome i bought it from was converting it to 4wd so it has a front axle (dana 30) out of a 2003 TJ already. down the road i will finish the conversion. im looking to get the ax-15 out of a 4wd mj or xj coupled with the NP231. the rear axle is a dana 35 (front and read both are stuffed with 3.55 gears) i'd like to pop a dana 44 or a chrystler 8.25 back there, but it works for now. hopefully getting a nice paint job also, the guy i got it from spray painted it flat tan, it looks alright, but i't sure look better with the nice blue it had before. need to to get some new signal covers, check the lights wiring, adjust the rear axle (its off to the right side about a half an inch) and a few other little things and we should be all set.

5/25/09 - worked on it all day. checked all the oils and such. discovered why teh right rear was rubbing the frame under any kind of articulation. the ubolts are totally loose and the axle had shifted off the to right a bit. having to break the ubolts off with a torque wrench. gotta find somethat match now. all the brakes have been redone recently, the oil in the read axlehousing needs replacing, but nothing too serious. just need to get those new ubolts in and check the wiring and the pin that connects the pitman arm and the tie rod end. so far thats all i've noticed that needs fixing. also found a CB radio that works (i guess) need to get an antenna for that and then i'll be in buisness. all the tires that came on it suck too, luckily there was an additional set of 4 decent ones in the bed, will be swapping those in.

5/26/09 - worked from when i got home from school till about 11pm. all the old ubolts are broken out and new ones in, new meats on the wheels, greased all the front end fittings. need to check but the new ubolts seem to have fixed the tire rubbing issue also. fiddled with the lights, seems to be pretty minor. vaccumed out the inside and cleaned it up a little. no pictures - working too hard, and also because i forgot to take my camera with me. oh and another thing that kinds sucks, whoever threaded the lugs the last time did an awesome cross-threading job. now one of the rear right studs is more like a peg. more pictures tomorrow.

5/27/09 - replace that stripped stud, went in real easy without taking anything off but the wheel/tire. got it mightily stuck on the way home, took a while to get outta that.

5/28/09 - cleaned off all the mud, discovered the tires still rub the frame under lots of articulation. fiddled with the lights a little bit.

6/1/09 - Finally got the new tie rod end that i needed. only $16 but a royal pain in the ass. anyways, pictures of that tomorrow. also replaced the passenger side signal, just took one of one of the older cars we have sitting around, worked fine. Both jobs were about 20 mins each. Not much at all to do now. hopefully getting it registered/inspected this week.

6/3/09 - New tie rod end (left) old tie rod end (right) looks like no one has ever greased the old tie rod end. ever.

Didn't get a pic of the new wiring, nothing fancy anyways, just 3 wires, cut, crimped together and stuffed back in.
