                                 Project Rustang

I bought this car originally with my dad in 2005 and it's been sitting ever since. Neither one of us had the time to put it together. I just recently got laid-off from work, so... I bought him out in april and started to work on it with all my free time. So far I got the rear suspension taken out, rear end out, and stripped the interior.

These pictures are the rear end after it's painted, I used a heat resistant aluminum paint, and me working on stripping the rear end on my daughter's chair (it was more comfortable than the garage floor).

These are a few pictures of my rust issue. When I took over the project I found the leaf spring in the trunk and the interior carpet setting on the garage floor. I don't know if you can see the picture on the left but the yellow line is an extension cord under the car.The picture on the right is the leaf spring in the trunk. I took that picture after I took the shackle off. I have the floor pans, trunk floor, and the rear frame rails so I can take care of this rust problem.

Future Upgrades:

1" lowering full suspension

Disc brake conversion kits for front/rear

T-5 transmission

347 Stroker kit

9" rear end

3" Magnaflow exhaust

Trick flow heads

Ultra blue pearl paint job

I just got the trunk floors cut out. Rear frame rails need to be cut out and replaced now.

I just got most of the front end stripped. Next I'm taking out  the radiator and the motor, welding in the new pans and frame rails, then put together the new suspension.

I have the frame rails in place, one of them is welded. I also have the passenger side trunk floor in place and I'm working on the driver side floor pan and seat riser. Then I'm moving to the driver side frame rail and trunk floor and the passenger side floor pan.

I pulled the old straight six out and now it's time to start working on the 302. I am also finishing the welding on the trunk floors and drivers side floor pan, and cleaning the dirt and surface rust on the undercarriage and engine compartment.

It's awesome to see another 70 coupe project on here! I'd love to see more pics. Come check out my 70 coupe project sometime. I'm almost ready to paint (should be this fall.) And I've got the same wheels on mine that you want for yours. They look great on there, but you'll need spacers for the front so they'll clear. I'll be keeping an eye on yours, man. I hope you'll do the same!
