cleaned all the crud out and put the spoiler back on as im not going to paint any time soon...

Today i pulled the carpet out to see some rust ive seen from below...

i dont know if this ads dates so im gonna do it myself just to look back in the future!

june-04-09

a little rust under the rear seat... have to patch that up...

colonialmotion's 1979 Ford Mustang

the floor pan below driver seat is broken because previous owner

was 400 pounds... but im not buying floor pans.. haha

colonialmotion's 1979 Ford Mustang

overall the floor really isnt that bad compared to the old cars you find in this country...

Man didnt expect to find a rust spot this bad....

colonialmotion's 1979 Ford Mustang

june-05-09

got someone to fix all the rust in the floor for $2,500 pesos ($70usd)

so less work for me! heres one pic of how its gonna be done...

colonialmotion's 1979 Ford Mustang

june-06-09

heres a couple pics of how the floor turned out...

colonialmotion's 1979 Ford Mustang

found a big rust spot behind the dashboard on the firewall... have to fix that as well....

and today i painted the floor pan with fendi for rust protection...

love the front view with the lights on! :)

colonialmotion's 1979 Ford Mustang

june-09-09 finished painting the floor with Fendi and it turned out ok...

also covered the hole where the shifter is with an old tire tube to keep heat outz!

and could not find new floor pan drain plugs so cleaned up original and put back on...

Before

colonialmotion's 1979 Ford Mustang   colonialmotion's 1979 Ford Mustang

After

(not perfect, but better than that old rat, mold, piss, feces smelling stuff)

bought this stuff for $6usd a 4´x 8´ sheet... gonna do the floor and firewall as well...

colonialmotion's 1979 Ford Mustang colonialmotion's 1979 Ford Mustang

i already have a huge wishlist going in foxmustangrestoration.com

the only problem is shipping to D.R. will be expensive for big stuff....

they seem to have most of the things i need, and prices arent bad...

June-18-09

Removed dashboard (ALOT OF WORK IF YOUR WONDERING)

to patch a couple spots.. so i think im finally rust free!

while i had it taken apart changed all the bulbs on the guages and taped up the

wiring harness as much as i could... and put the insulation cloth.... can barely hear the engine now from inside... :)

July-19-2009

took the sunroof off to clean it up under

(i already knew there was rust)

around all 4 drainholes there is rust...

im gonna replace all 4 drainpipes and get a welder

to patch up all that rust!

colonialmotion's 1979 Ford Mustang

heres a pic of the front after i sanded and painted hood cowl

and bumper (temporary spray paint done by myself.. lol)

i will eventually paint it but still have many things to fix...

excuse the oil.... i was checking if theres oil going to the turbo and turned

it on with the line unplugged... lost like 3 quarts of oil on the garage floor.. lol

colonialmotion's 1979 Ford Mustang

as you can see the engine is missing 80% of the vacuum hoses...

i read they dont run right without them but it seems to run ok..

the wastegate didnt even have anything plugged into it.. i ran some vacuum lines down there

but have no idea if thats how it goes.. haha

colonialmotion's 1979 Ford Mustang colonialmotion's 1979 Ford Mustang

i wanna put pony R wheels on it from latemodelrestoration.com,

im thinking of buying 17x6.5 for the front and 17x9 for the rear....

if anybody thinks i should go for 17x8 in front let me know!

i just dont want any rubbing or modding, i think 9s in the back wont need fender roll....
