We bought this car ("Donovan", named after a hippy street in Ballingham WA we lived on that had about 6 hybrids on each block) on May 2, 2009 in Dallas. We filled the tank in Dallas and left for home (Houston). It took less than 1/4 of a tank of dinosaur, a week later I'm still using that tank.
I commute 60 miles RT and we've averaged 68.2 mpg for mixed city and highway. I do my best to keep it at the speed limit, but I don't mind being passed.
I have a few mods planned:
- Beaded seat covers - keep you off the seat for better airflow
- Swamp "AC" - Igloo cooler with 9-volt batteries, a cpu fan, flexible dryer vent and a scoop of ice.
- Ceramic window tint - lighter in color with good UV protection
- In-cabin air-evacuator - Solar powered fans blowing hot air into body cavity and out of car
- Possible grill-block, needs hot-weather testing
