Hello everyone, my name is Mark and this is my 1988 Ford Tempo GLS 2 door that i bought April 30, 2009. It came with the 2.3 HSO (High Specific Output) 4 cylinder engine, FLC3 3 speed automatic transmission, cruise control, 'premium sound' speakers and amp, and my favorite part, the 3 piece real lip spoiler. It doesnt have most of the power options that my old '89 Tempo used to have, such as power windows, door locks, electric trunk and gas door poppers, rear window defrost and power drives seat. But thats alright.
I'm building this car for a few reasons. I want a car that i can go to the drag strip with and have a blast, keeping up with some of the faster 4, 6 and 8 cylinder cars in a straight line. I want a car that i can go to an auto cross in and keep a semi fast and consistant time in. I also want a car that i can clean up and take to car shows to make people go "Is that really a Ford TEMPO?" Now i know that not everyone is going to like the car, which is fine with me. I'm mainly building it because I do like it. I like being unique. There are not many aftermarket parts for these cars, so you have to be creative.
As of right now, the car has been stripped down. No engine, transmission, interior, etc. Its basically just a shell with headlights, tail lights, bumpers, glass, and wheels. I'm in the process of building up the engine. I'm keeping the stock 2.3 but with some modifications. I have the crank and cam in the block, and i'm in the process of getting it ready to be painted. I also am working on porting out the head. I have a full mods list on page 2. Here are some pictures of the progress I've made...
Alright, i have my KYB GR-2 Struts and variable rate springs coming tomorrow. Should be installed on Saturday.

Here are some pics after clay barring and waxing it...

This is one of the biggest problems with the car, and this is also one thing that I'm not going to be fixing myself.
