Hey thanks for checking out my El Camino!

KSRebel09's 1984 Chevrolet El Camino

Story: I bought it May 1st, 2009. So hear's the story for anyone who cares; It was owned by a high school student a few years back that spent the money on the current modifications, and when he left for college he parked it at his grandparents house where it sat for 2 years outside. While sitting of course, the pack rats ate up all the wiring in the car. Wanting to get rid of it, a friend of the family put it on Craigslist to try and sell and I saw it and jumped at the deal, taking a chance with not hearing the car run let alone driving it. The one thing that sold me on it was it's condition. The frame rails are COMPLETELY solid and it has only started rusting on one fender (driver rear), but hasn't become horrible yet, which if you are familiar with these cars at all, is pretty impressive. So last night my friend and I put new plug wires on and spliced the other wiring back together, threw in my truck battery, and she started right up. After us starting and shutting it off a few times, the carb started not opening and she wouldn't run. So my buddy and I went and got his old carb off his El Camino and put it on, but it's pooring way too much fuel in (idling at about 3000rpm) and is leaking fuel badly. So this is where the story begins...I'm currently in search for a good carburetor to slap on. The story shall continue..

Sorry about the photos, they're just off my phone for now. I'll get new, normal pics ASAP. But here's the list...

Specs:

-GM 350 motor, pretty sure it's a crate motor

-Turbo 350 trans

-4.11 Posi rear end (brand?)

-Flowmaster dual exhaust

-American Racing wheels

-Hotchkis Suspension

-Panasonic Head Unit

-Coustic door speakers and 6x9s, as well as an amp and small Kicker subwoofer

Alright so my friend and I have done a lot over the last couple days:

5/2/09- I pulled my friends carb off and the line to the fuel pump, then went and picked up a new 600cfm Edelbrock carb and some other misc. pieces for it from OReilly's.

5/3/09- Oil change, took battery out of my truck for it and put new battery in my truck, bought a K&N air filter from OReilly's that was the one it was supposed to be, but for some reason didn't fit (No one there or I could figure it out, so I took it back and haven't gotten around to finding another), and we got the new carburetor put on. We took it for a couple test runs down the road and she wasn't runnin right because the carb wasn't opening all the way because it was catching on the intake. We also got all of the wiring hooked up so the alternator would actually work.

5/4/09- Bought a Mr. Gasket carburetor adapter so it would open all the way and installed. The car has been leaking trans fluid from up by the trans cooler since Sunday, and finally got low enough that the car wouldn't drive that night, so the plan for tonight is to mount an aftermarket trans cooler under the car somewhere and to install all new lines. Wish me luck :P

I'll have more pics soon!

5/22/09- So here she is all cleaned up and running pretty good with the new carb, trans cooler, and K&N Air Filter. She cleaned up pretty good I thought. And now she is up for sale, since I just bought a 2002 Grand Prix GTP (which you should definately check out!). I'm asking $3500 obo, give me a holler if you're interested!
