farg48's 1948 Dodge Fargo

This is my work in progress that I got from my Uncle Chuck that he nicknamed Giddy Up Go after the song. When I was just a little fella, he used to take me fishing and other various trips in this truck. When he moved away, he left the truck in my grandmas back yard where I would play in it. In 1977 I asked him if I could purchase it and he gave it to me.

I drove the truck in high school back in 1980 in stock condition and had a blast. I put a 12 volt battery in the back to run the 8 track. It did 55 mph going down hill but I didn't care, it was mine.

I have recently started fixing it up. The frame turned out to be broken and I couldn't get alot of essential parts for it so I decided to update it so I will be able to drive and enjoy it everywhere including long hauls. The truck is sitting on a shortened Dakota frame and now sports power front disc brakes, independent wishbone suspension, power rack and pinion steering and tilt wheel, plus a rear end to fix that top end for highway cruising. I can't wait to get it finished to the point where I can roll around on the street again.

Thanks for all the comments ! To respond to your questions trouster52, I have a 350 and 700R4 resting in it right now but I am contemplating putting in a 4.0 L taken out of my Jeep.It would be kind of cool to keep it a 6 and then it would still be a Chrysler 1/2 ton truck, but I haven't made that decsion yet. The color will be base gloss black when it is finished to replace the original lead base green.
