Hello my name is Alex and I picked up my 73 Celica about a week ago (4/11/09). I'd like to restore her, and my dad is helping out a lot. He took auto classes when he was growing up in the Philippines, so I'm just trying to learn as much as I can from him.

Our 1st project was to replace the front end strut cartridges. While installing the cartridge, we cut a slit (in the piece that holds the brake line) so we didn't have to mess with it. This was a hard project cause we were having a tough time attaching the strut back to the car. So we disassmbled the lower arm and attached the strut 1st. We then connected the strurt to the top part of the car by jacking it up into place. Sorry no pics, but our 2nd project was to replace the rear shock absorbers.

This is still a work in progress cause the back left nut is loose. We kept on tightening it, but it seems like the thread is shot. We're probably going to exchange the part and then get the car aligned.

To do list -

Figure out what's causing the sound at back right wheel. Still a noise after we changed the shocks.

Fix rust spots under the rear seats (will post pics after we take the back seat out again)

Rebuild carburator (Does anyone know where to find the model number?)

For the dash lights, I had it replaced with 5W Flosser brand bulbs. The originals use 3W bulbs. Its still somewhat dark due to the fact I didn't remove the green bulb cover. Hopefully, I'll have this done soon. The instrument cluster is somewhat tedious to remove. As for the rust, get a professional to fix this problem. :)

Looks like a very good project car. Keep us posted on new developments.
