Juice007's 1987 Pontiac Trans AmThis is my 87' Trans Am.  I bought it from my father a few months ago; he bought it off the showroom in 1987.  Neither of us have a clue why it is not a GTA.  He said he remembered asking the dealer why it wasn't and the dealer didn't even know.

The car is super clean on the outside, but I need to have the interior re-upholstered.  I really don't know how many miles the car has on it because that cluster on the digital dash stopped working about four years ago according to my Dad.  He rarely drove it, but he suspects it probably has about 70K on it.  I remember growing up as a kid, I had to wash and wax it every weekend.  The cluster comes on and stays on for about five minutes.  When it goes out it stops clocking the mileage.  Right now it shows 43K.

If anyone knows where I can find one, let me know.  Also, any Ideas why its not a GTA?  It has the 350 5.7L tuned port enging with WS6 suspension and the GTA Wheels.  It also has the digital dash and the GTA spoiler.  Your guess is as good as mine, but if you have any ideas, I'd be glad to hear them.

Also, the GTA's all have bird and GTA emblems not decals.

The spoiler and wheels are pretty much the same on the GTA, Formula or TA. I know some regular TA's and the Formula's come with the High tech turbo style wheels. I don't think any GTA's come with two-tone paint every one I've seen has only one color. Do what one of the guys said and run the vin that will tell y for sure. With that said I've always liked the black & gold TA's I wouldn't worry about the GTA deal and just keep it clean. I don't know how hard it is or not but I would ditch the digital gauge and find a stock analog unit with the 140mph speedo, those are much better than the nasty digital dash. Very nice car, I'm jealous.

I can understand bout maing it a non stock car. If it were me. I might add a filter of very minimal things cause it looks so nice. Usually big engines get put in cars that have been wrecked and rebuilt or have blown their engines or a reason. You have a clean ride and if I had that clean of a ride, I would just keep it stock. But... its all up to you! :)
