This was my first car, a 1988 Mercury Grand Marquis LS. I bought the car from my Grandparents for just under $2000 with a little over 100k miles. It was a nice car, very clean as you will notice from the pictures. It had a lot of character too and I loved driving it. The engine ran smooth, unfortunately it had a number of other things that needed repairs during the time I owned it. I replaced the heater core (which goes out on almost every one of these cars), battery, radiator cap and hose, catalytic converter (1 of 2), and a few other miscelaneous items. After over $1000 in repairs, I noticed the transmission starting to slip every once in a while, so I decided it was time for it to go.
I bought it in July of 1999 and sold it early in 2001 for $2500. I still miss this car and wish I still had it (even in the midst of $4/gallon gas), but when you're a young guy in high school you don't have a lot of money, and I just couldn't afford to replace the transmission. Someday, I want to buy another one and restore it, but I'm now a young man in my mid 20's and... I still don't have MONEY!
The pictures aren't the greatest, but I was 15 when I took them, so I guess that's to be expected.
