This is our 1998 Mercury Villager GS.
We brought it home on July of last year. My wife and I had been looking for the right minivan for us, and after some research and a phone call to our trusty mechanic, we decided that it would be either a Nissan Quest or a Mercury Villager. After test driving a few of both, we finally came across our GS and we decided to get it.
It only had one prior owner, only a few dings and scratches, and the interior showed very little wear ~ the rear bench had never been used, and the floor mats still had plastic on them. The odometer read 148,141 Kilometres or 92,050.55 Miles which wasn't too bad. As for the engine, the 3.0 l V6 never ceases to impress me. The specs may rate it at 151 hp, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was more.
This is definitely one the best looking minivans out there, and since we are going to keep it for as long as we need one, I plan on fixing and customizing it.
So far all the work that has been done to it relates to the pre-sale inspection that was done by my mechanic.
Here's the list of what's been done so far:
- New TieRod Ends
- New oil pressure switch
- New air filter
- Clean front calipers
- Replaced oil with Synthetic
Here's what needs to be done:
- Fix power steering leak
- Replace flex pipe
- Replace both catalytic converters
- Replace Exhaust pipe and muffler
As you can see, not too bad for a ten year old van.
After the power steering leak in fixed, and the engine has been thoroughly steam cleaned, my first mod will be to install a AMSOIL PRECHARGER.
