Engine Tear Down And Rebuild The cylinder head has returned from the machine shop after being hot bathed. Installed a new cam shaft, lifters and had them put a 30 degree backcut on my valves for increased flow. Ordered a new thermostat and coolant temp sensor and coolant pressure sensor, but im waiting to install that stuff till after the block is done being machined. I removed the block from the engine bay with a little help from my girlfriend(she let the jack down a little fast but no harm done).I was forced to drop it out the bottom cause the engine crane was broken. Took the block into work and removed everything that was still attached(distributer, waterpump, timing pulleys, crank shaft seals, oil pan, and oil pump). Then I took the pistons and crank shaft out to inspect the bearings and cylinder walls. the cylinderwalls were in good shape easily machinable, the bearings were starting to show copper but not to badly and only in one or two of them, and the crank was very nice it will only need a polish. Took the block into the machine shop the next day and its getting a hot bath, new frost plugs, machined cylinder walls, oversized pistons and bearings, and connecting rods. Ok so the engine block and head are assembled and painted, and im pretty happy with how it turned out. I have a long weekend off so im going to drop it back into the charger this weekend and start bolting stuff back together.
