This '83 Mazda GLC was given to me (with a spare engine and full extra suspension) by a neighbor of mine who is a jeweller. He maintained the car since it was bought new, by him, and the engine has around 150,000 miles on it. The spare engine had over 300,000 miles on it, so I'm in the process of tearing it down and rebuilding it. When I got the car, I planned on racing it, so I removed the glass and all the plastic trim and interior.
For dirt track, I didn't do anything fancy. After about two days I finally decided on a paintjob. Black on green. First was the internal spray:

Then, it was scuffed and completely painted. The red went on first, for the number, then the black for the hood and trunk. Then the base green, which was a mixture of Mopar Sublime Green and Mopar Emerald Green:

It took about two weeks to strip completely, cage, and paint. In that last picture, one of the right rear lug studs had snapped off when I went to remove the wheel, so I'll be replacing the entire hub just in case it's warped.

Today (April 10th, 2009) I finished building a cold air intake for the car. Since the dirt track's front-wheel drive class is stock only, it's one of the few upgrades I can do (Sorry, no internal engine changes). I was going to change over to an MSD ignition coil, but the tech inspector wouldn't allow the modification.
April 11th will be the first race day, I'll update soon with some pics from the race and results. The Mazda will be put against Dodge Neons, Ford Probes, Mercury Tracers, Chevy Cavaliers, and other front-wheel drive vehicles on a dirt quarter-mile oval. (And yes, I'll be driving the beast)
On a final note, my friends like to call the car "The Snot Rocket" due to its paintjob.
