1991 MERCURY CAPRI XR2 rebadged to a FORD
the chassis has 90,000 original miles
the rims are 5zigen fighters in 16in silver.. tokico hp struts and intrax springs hold em on and CDAS rotors and goodridge stainless lines slow it down
the headlights are blackout projectors and 6000k hids light em up... opaque paint was used on the turns markers and tails and the front lip is from an 89 mr2
this is where it gets fun...
part 2....the engine
1.6 litre DOHC 16valve turbo intercooled...9.2-1 compression... right arround 180whp
its an xr2, so it came turbo... but we blew it up with 20lbs of boost..... so we had to rebuild
this is finished product motor #2
in the foreground is the b6t we blew...on the stand is the NOS N/A capri short block i sourced in texas..... brand new covered in cosmaline
being we used an N/A motor for the compression, we had to run the oil and water lines from the back... giving it an aftermarket turbo kit appearance....
we used a b6t head and cams, and mated them with a cometic MLS gasket and ARP binders to handle the boost .....
camgears from the 88 323gt add to the appearance
the head has had a light port job on the intake side.. mostly to match the ported intake mani....
ported intake, ported throttle body, adjustable FPR and a guage were found to mate nicely to the stock rail... and help controll the DSM 450cc injectors fed by a walbro 255lph pump....

a corksport divorced downpipe keep the spent gasses flowing out
this is an IHI vj-14 hotside mated to a fully ported and polished vj-11 (mazda 626 turbo) coldside it pushes 280 cfm and is efficient to 17lbs boost...and makes arround 180 -190 to the wheels
on the right... the IHI vj-14/vj-11 turbo and manifold...on the left... a custom flanged b6t mani hanging a mitsu tdo5h-14b im putting this turbo on as soon as i break this motor in fully...
This is a good picture of the modified manifold that hangs the tdo5h-14b... you can see where the flange was welded on with nickel rod... the above pic shows the same mani and hotside after paint (silver mani) (black hotside)
the mitsu turbo pushes 408 cfm and is efficient to 21 psi.... im hoping for arround 220 to the wheels when all is said and done
part 3.... Interior
Miata style bar , rear tonnau with speakers and a wind deflector
perferated vinyl..... in case they get a rain treatment
and a shift boot to match, white face guages,
an apexi RSM, greddy turbo timer, boost guage and ext. temp on the pillar, wideband next to RSM in center dash and water temp oil pressure below stereo
its very messy right now
wideband the essential tuning device...
this is how it looks at night
center bezel showing water temp and oil press...
and this shows the guages mounted from back....
pioneer headunit, clif designs, carbon fiber cone, coaxial, front (6 round) rear (5x7) and pioneer 1" tweeters
and the optima in the trunk ...along with my car cover...
UPDATE AS OF Sun Sept 20 2009
well a couple of months have passed, since ive updated my car domain..... so heres whats new
i now have the mitsubishi 14b turbo on the car. im dumping the w /g to atmosphere, and my hp has made a wealthy jump to 210whp....
my 1/4 mile time has droped signifigantly to a 12.88 @107 ive reclocked the VAF meter for a smoother fuel in, installed a big assed aluminum radiator, fabricated an airbox/heatshield arround the new cold air intake. and a air dam to revert all air through my radiator, redid the PCV system with a supra PCV valve, and installed a 10"jlw3 with an alpine 450watt mono block amp.
heres the pics of everything but the amp and sub... ill post them shortly...
big turbo and big radiator installed without guards...
air deverter and cold air in place...
better shot you can see the airbox and radiator better here...

you can see the big turbo better here... and the clearance to the radiator too...
MORE TO COME!!!

about 2 years ago we built this festiva it was since sold but ran a 12.5 quarter before selling ...the owner was Bryan Smith ...a good friend of mine..
this is the engine sourced from a 91 xr2 capri after paint and cleaning
pulling the motor (Bryan Smith hard at work)
this poor capri got crushed after all usable stuff was taken...shame really it had a good body and interior ....RIP little capri....
MORE TO COME.........
