** First camping trip of the season was great! The truck cruised up mountains in 100 degree heat without any problems. This Truck is awesome for camping*** This is my 1990 Chevrolet Suburban Silverado 2500 (heavy duty 3/4 ton). I bought it in 2007 for $1,200. It was in great shape, except for the sun-baked paint and faded carpet. It was always a California car, so there was no rust or rot anywhere. It had only 117,000 original miles, a clean car fax report, excellet interior (except some carpet fading), loaded with every option and almost everything worked. NOTE: Needs paint and minor items.Beach Bourbon is equipt with a Fuel Injected 7.4L, 454 c.i. big block, a newly rebuilt TH400 transmisson, a 14 bolt 10 1/2 inch rear end with 373 gears and ABS brakes. This truck has a factory tow package can tow anything with this power train and heavy duty suspension without any noticable loss of power! I towed a 20 foot fishing boat, and it felt like I was not towing anything at all - what a beast! It is also fully loaded with captain's chairs, roof console, roof rack, running boards, power windows and door locks, front and rear air conditioning and stereo. I plan to keep it in stock original condition. I know this truck needs paint, and some other cosmetic work. I bought the truck as an inexpensive truck for hauling kids and dogs to the beach, hauling stuff from Home Depot, Costco and garage sales, towing boats and going camping. I haven't cared that the truck is ugly because I don't worry about scratching her! If I wanted a perfect suburban, I would have spent 20 times more for a newer shiney one! Ugly as it is, I fell in love with this truck! In fact, the whole family loves this truck! The kids love it and would rather drive in this old thing than our newer nicer rides; and the dogs goe nuts when I say the word "truck".Last year the truck was stolen from our home, and used by smugglers to run illegal aliens. I was devastated to see the truck missing, and relieved when they found it abandoned in a state park. The rear window had been kicked out, and the steering column was wrecked, but otherwise it was in releatively good shape. Don't even get me started on this topic, especially since I had to pay the impound fee to get MY OWN STOLEN TRUCK BACK! 'The next year it was stolen AGAIN and used in burglaries of local businesses; but we got it back the next day! Stolen TWICE and recovered both times. At this point we realized this truck is not going anywhere, so we better start fixing it up.Below are pictures of how the vehicle looked when originally purchased:
