Intro
Back in April of 2002 I saw one of the sexiest cars drive down the street. I had no clue what it was but I was captivated by its beautiful veilside body kit and the way it curved from face to ass! So, naturally when I got home I went straight to my computer, logged on to the internet and searched for this beauty. I looked everywhere and after about a day and a half of searching I found it, a Nissan 240sx! So I went on another search finding as many forums as I could. I sat and read. I took in a lot of info and as I leered I gave some back to others who were new as I was. At that time I new what my next car would be. So I started looking for one, but not to hard, just keeping my eyes out for a really good deal.
Well shortly after I found my car, I learned about the SR20DET and all about the cars Japanese version. So I said to myself, this is it, ill get one with a bad motor and do the SR20 swap. It seemed easy enough and I new a few guys that were car smart! Around the time of November 2002 I found one! It was a red 90 fastback in Ohio. I was ready to get it and then I realizedhow am I going to get it home?!?! I could not afford shipping and the owner told me that it probably will not make it all the way to Green Bay WI. So I passed.
I started to side track and look at MKIII Supra's, Z32 300zxs, FC RX-7s instead of my prized 240sx because they are bigger better cars!!! Then I realized that the only one of those that would really suit me is the FC, but I have heard that they have problems with the turbo version, and I want BOOST!!! Also they were high maintenance and me a 17 year old kid new that I wouldnt be keeping up with it. So instead I returned to my 240sx worshiping. Then, at the end of May, 2003 I found a beautiful 92 fastback for sale in Milwaukee! I went and looked at it and it was in great condition besides the normal WI weather side effects, but that was even minimal, and for $2500 it was well worth it. So I bought it the next week. The car came with Apex-I GT-Spec exhaust, Tokio Struts, Eibach Springs, Injen intake, Brembro Rotors and Endless pads. And for styling it had a Nismo Shift Knob and JDM 180sx Kouki Tail lights!!!
As I was preparing to do the SR20DET engine swap, I thought to my self....wouldnt it be cheaper and more intelligent to turbo charge the bigger 2.4 liter KA24DE that was in the car opposed to getting the SR20?? So I researched and learned that I could drop the $2500 on a SR20DET clip and then get all the other parts such a s clutch i/c etc. or I could build my own KA set up for around $2000 dollars as many people were spending! then with the KA-T I could boost about 12psi on stock internals or the regular 6psi on the smaller motor before cause I wouldnt have anything to tune it with.
But then the unacceptable happened. You know that sexy white veilside kited car I talked about in the first paragraph?!? Yes well I had the great honor to meet this man. So I got to talking to him and talking about all the things I wanted to accomplish with my car and he told me that his car was running a KA-T and that he really enjoyed it. So this got the gears in my head turning and I went home and compiled a list of the parts I would purchase to turbo the car. And he told me that my car would be pretty damn quick with the set-up I made (which mind u is about 1500 including a new motor!!!!!!!!!). So right then and there I was sold! If I can spend 1500 and get a new motor and enough parts to hit at least 10psi then I think its pretty obvious y I decided to go with this set up. As I said before.......bigger motor, bigger boost, bigger bank account when finished, where can u go wrong????
