First off I would like to welcome you to my page. Unfortunately I didn't take any photos of my malibu malibubuddy's 1978 Chevrolet Malibuuntil I had already begun modifing it. Here she is (sigh!) after the first round of mods. I purchased this car for $700 bone stock. Had it not been for elnino I would have never found it in the snow bank up in Rycroft, AB. The roof was the only thing sticking out of the snow. It was originally bought from a dealer in Edmonton, AB from a woman in 1978 (I still have the original order bill from the dealer) and country driven until she was to old to drive anymore, then her grandson used it as his first car (which I didn't know until stories of what it had gone through before I bought it arose). The first 3 months were the transformation period swapping out the 305 and turbo 250 tranny for a 330 hp 350 cu.in and turbo 350 tranny with a stage 2 hurst shift kit installed and a 2800 stall converter. The rear end was a 2.25-1 ratio and swapped out to a 2.73 posi diff from a 1970 Olds Cutlass. The rims were originally 14" and swapped out to 15" corvette ralleys. Tinted the windows and had a ball breaking it all in for a few months.malibubuddy's 1978 Chevrolet Malibu Coming home one day the #6 intake lifter seized and took out the lobe on my cam, so I parked it for 10 months until I was ready to redo the top end.malibubuddy's 1978 Chevrolet Malibu

The cam was replaced by a modified corvette LT1 cam by offsetting the lobes, intake is now a Weiand dual plane with a air gap (from myself), carb spacer plate, rebuilt my Holley carb, installed headers(not shown)malibubuddy's 1978 Chevrolet Malibu, changed out the exhaust from 1 7/8" to 2 1/2" piping. What a huge difference!

I had a lot of overheating issues with this engine and finally pulled out the flex fan and shroud and put in electric fan (push and pull), it worked! I also added an additive to the antifreeze (Water Wetter) it works awsome, unfortunately it also softens rad hoses too, but I still recommend it.
