Right so here we have our 1982 Fiat Spider 2000.  Its got a 2.0L Inline 4 twin cam motor which as of now is completely standard.

This car is remarkably clean for the year, there is no rust at all, and its never been welded or anything like that.  Its 100% origional and although its not perfect its in very good shape for its age.  Really about the only thing the car really needs is a good polish to bring up the faded paint a bit.

We've got springs from an earlier model to bring the "monster truck" like ride height down a little bit, and we'll get those fitted soon enough.  In the early 80's the minimum headlight height was raised, so Fiat just installed taller springs to bring the ride height up in order the meet the new laws.  Thats why it looks so jacked up.  So far the only modification we've made to the car was the addition of a Sony xPlod Headunit and speakers.

One of the first things we plan to do to it is remove the tacky plastic surround in the center of the dash, relocate the two warning lights and switches down into the center console with less obvious and more aesthetic switchgear and lights, and then installing a custom dash piece made from high quality ply and a nice varnished and polished venier of some sort.  This should clean up the dash a little and give it much less of that cheap 1980's Fiat feel!

We also have plans to possibly remove the rear seat, and install a Wood Parcel shelf the match the dash.  The rear seats in this car are useless, its almost a joke that they are even there.  With the top up their is only enough headroom for a two year old child.  With the top down, anyone who sits there gets poked in the back by the top.  In all cases, the rear leg room is only enough for a double amputee.  (no offense to double amputee's loll)  The parcel shelf will have space underneath it that will allow things to be stowed away underneath it when the seats are forward, and also allow us to have a permenant mounting spot for the rear speakers we have installed in the car.

This little car is great fun to drive around and just have fun with.  We plan to do some basic modifications to it like installing a stainless exhaust, a slightly hotter cam, a K&N, do some basic porting and polishing, possibly install a 1700cc head (for higher compression) and also possibly go to a mega-squirt ECU so it can be remapped for any additional modifications we go for.

Sorry for the relatively few mods but I'll keep this page updated once I get around to doing anything to the car.

Here's the car stuck back in the garage for the night.

Heres a few more random pictures:

In this picture I've replaced the heater control surround in the center console (the handbrake snapped down on it and broke it), installed a new drivers side door handle, and touched a few things up here and there.  There are several pieces of silver chrome trim missing in the interior which we have in boxes, they just need to get installed.

Another shot from the rear is all...

Inside the trunk with the carpet and spare tire cover off.  Its the origional spare.

Here's underneath the spare tire with all the carpet removed.  No rust here!!!  And its all origional!!

Thanks for looking and enjoy!!

Man, I had a 79... it was a fun car... took a bit to get used to the straight arm Italian steering wheel...LOL I could raise and lower the top with one hand from drivers seat. Mine ran good but was slow... had 140 mph speedo, but the only way it would hit 140 was if you dropped it from a plane... Great car though, and yours is in excellent condition... 5*

NICE Spider. that is very clean. I agree about the springs, it is the next thing to change. I am going to redo the suspension.
