This Jaguar XK-140 was sold new in New York City in 1956. The second owner lived in Elmyra, NY which is a few miles South of Watkins Glen. After the car became rather old, it was used by the owner's two sons in the early and mid 1970s as their daily high school driver, and also went through a hitch in the army. The younger brother brought the Jag to Colorado in the early 1980s and parked it beside his barn in Campion, Colorado. I had been looking for a XK-140 project car and found the Jag in 1986 and purchased it. It was in very poor condition and was indeed a project. It had no engine or transmission and needed everything restored. My two sons named my project, "Mission Impossible"! I chose to install a 1969 Corvette engine and TH 350 transmission. I spent five years restoring the jaguar doing most of the work myself. I soon found the Corvette engine was too big and would not cool well, but we still managed to enjoy the car on short runs. I sold the car to a friend in 1993 and he kept it garaged while only driving it 200 miles. He called me in the fall of 2007 and asked if I would be interested in buying the car back. I couldn't refuse his offer and now I own this XK-140 for the second time. I have removed the Corvette engine and am in the process now of installing a 1993 Chevy 4.3L 262 cu.in. V6 engine. This engine is smaller and will make it easier to do the necessary things to make the Jaguar run cool. I'll update when I get her running!
