Sat 28 - Well, I've hit a snag. On the back of the engine where the camshaft is, there's no freeze plug, but a cover plate and gasket. The gasket is leaking and no one has a single one, just one in the Fel-Pro full gasket set, which is $100. I now have to put off replacing the transmission until next week because I have to go to the dealer to get that specific gasket. What rotten luck.April 2009Wed 1 - Finally got the gasket, but won't be able to start putting the car back together tomorrow. So that means the car won't be done until this weekend. Hopefully have my Volkswagen sold soon so I can start putting in some performance mods in the Camaro.Fri 3 - The car lives! Went on a short 10 mile drive to make sure the transmission/clutch holds up. Sure enough, it shifts smoothly with a little extra power at the wheels.Sat 4 - Made a farther trip of 30 miles today, and still running smoothly. Idles a little off, will have to check the IAC.Thur 9 - Been trying to negotiate the sale of my 61 VW Beetle. Possibly trading for another 3rd Gen Camaro. Or selling to another person. Depending on what happens, the V6 will either get new parts, or I have my own car to drive and my fiance gets the V6. Here are some pictures I just took of the car all clean after a long dirty winter. The door was replaced because of those horrible hinges GM made. Note: Engine is dirty, I know, but will clean it soon.
