Theres 103,000 miles on the odo. It has a 300 2bbl, and ST-300 2spd with a varable vane torque converter. The car came with 210 hp and a lot more torque, i like to think that i have it back to that number. When i bought the car, it seemed fine as i started to drive home. Thats cause the auto choke was still on. Then i came around a corner nearing home and i stomped on the gas. The car stalled out. And the saga of restoring its performance began.
First i found a pretty big vacuum leak. Better after that, but the stalling problem was still there. Then i read that rochester 2gc carbs have problems with ethanol eating accelerator pumps. Ok cool ill just replace the accelerator pump. I did that and it still stalled when you hit the gas. Plus the accelerator pump i took out looked fine. Then i got an unused holley 2300 350 cfm for 200 bucks and an adapter for 35$. If i had to guess, the 2gc has a misshapen accelerator pump bore. now i use it to decorate my garage shelf.
The other performance mod i did was a side exit cherry bomb exhaust for 70 bucks total. the exhaust it had was stock with a few leaks. it got the inside fumey as hell. the car was probly dangerous to drive. i only have so many brain cells to kill so i addressed this right away. its not fumey at all now.
NO power brakes (power brakes are when i use 2 feet. emergency brake is 2 feet and one hand on my knee pushing), catalytic converters, air pump, mirror on the right side (unneeded), fm radio, anything that thinks for you.
But it DID come with speed alert, and option where you set a yellow needle to a desired speed on the speedometer and if you go over it buzzes at you! It doesnt work anymore, and i wouldnt use it anyway. The owners manual say its for "the prudent driver who respects traffic laws" or something like that LOL.
I tell people who are all about the environment that it has a green engine LOL

I bought the car about 2 months ago. Ive been very entertained with fixing up the car since then. Working on cars is a part time hobby of mine, cause i own a ford and a 42 yr old antique buick. But this thing always gets me home. I dont even have a woking cell phone right now i havent for weeks!
The best thing ive done to the buick is switch to a holley. The performance, throttle response and fuel mileage are way better now. I stopped using aviation gas cause i found out its a federal crime to use it in the road :-( i read that, i didnt get busted. but mixing it with regular gas worked awesome, the stuff has massive amounts of lead even compared to leaded gas from back in the day. it lubricates valves, burns cool, and ruins catalytic converters and o2 sensors. my car doesnt need it but i still wish it was allowed on the road.
Staggolee was bought new in the Bronx NYC and driven there from 1967 till 1985. It was rearended in 1973. In 85 it was moved to south jersey and stored. 3 years ago the previous owner bought it and got it running again (new pistons rings and rods). He used it as a daily driver (first car) for 2 years.
When i bought the car the paint was horrible. it looked navy blue and the top was heavily oxidized.. It looks better now, I did it with turtle wax polishing compound first. then in select areas krylon spraypaint. i spraypainted the areas that were very cracked and rusted after a ton of sanding. i buffed out the krylon clear with maquiars ultimate compound and i was very happy with the results. then endless cleaner wax buffing and it looks good. the hood the roof and the trunklid in the pitures are sraypainted.
i also "fixed" a transmission leak with a new bolt and a tap on the one corner of the trans pan. the leaking is way less but it still drips about once an hour. the spots in the pics are from when it was BAD.
Buicks should NOT have a motor from anything but a BUICK. Some people dont get why i HATE seeing chevys in buicks. Cause at one point gm actually bothered to make buicks different than chevies! So DONT ELIMINATE THE FEW DIFFERENCES, JUST TO MAKE SOMETHING THATS EASY TO FIND PARTS FOR . If you are challenged by maintaining an old buick motor, i feel sorry for you. A couple exceptions- If your car is really fast, if your poor and had a chebbie laying in your garage when the buick blew up ect..... But i do have sick daydreams about putting a ford flathead in my buick. And btw i dont care what people do to pontiacs.
these are new pics from when i finished painting the roof today. there are also interior pics

the car still needs to be buffed it will look better soon

those are the subz put in by the PO. the trunk is my next project. i just realized today the amp should be mounted on the back of the seat not on the damn box!

and a trim piece i made out of 3 pieces of wood and tin foil and black duct tape. this kind of thing might pass on a ford but i want this real piece a lot cause buicks look great with ventiports or something like ventiports......
IF ANYONE HAS A REAL PIECE LIKE THIS THAT YOU WANT TO SELL LET ME KNOW!
