My lil' 302
UPDATE:
I pulled that ugly engine outa my car. The bare block is sitting on an engine stand in my garage waiting to go to the machine shop for some freshening up. All the internals on the motor look good and pretty unworn besides the cam bearings, the cam bearings are falling apart so the machine shop is going to press some new ones in for me.
I sanded out the engine compartment and repainted it glossy black with a clear coat for some protection. Picked up some nice shinny stainless steel hoses/lines to replace all the ugly rubber vacuum lines and misc unorganized rubber hoses with. Damn this things going to look good.
Current Mods: installed
-Edelbrock Performer intake
-Edelbrock Performer 600cfm carb
-Edelbrock timing chain set
-Edelbrock Performer-Plus cam & lifter set
-2 Flowmaster 40 series to match my dual 2" piping
Future mods:
-Edelbrock or Trick Flow aluminum heads
-Eagle 347 Stroker kit probably 9.5:1 CR
-3.55 ring and pinion gears
-Far Future-5 speed or AOD tranny and 9 rear-end with 3.73 gears

What the motor looked like. It's going to be so clean and perty when Im done.
Notice:
I claim no ownership to this picture. I found this picture on this site and loved the engine compartment on this car so I used it as a basic model of what i wanted mine to look like after i redid it so my motor will have many similarities to this compartment. Very nice car to whoever the owner is.

Out she goes, this is the fun part, the fulfilling part will being it all back together and running and looking good!

My mom isn't the best photographer in the world but she did make this one look kinda cool, thought i'd put up the glory of my stock motor leavin the car, she won't go back in stock!

Can you say ugly, that's a pretty good look at the true dirt/battery acid stains/and crap that grew in my engine compartment before I bought this thing last year. My main goal is CLEAN! That's just not tollerable to me.

Stripped all that crappy lookin paint and got rid of all the surface rust and put some nice engine enamel on the walls and firewall with a high temp clearcoat layer for a nice finish. Better photography could help on my part.

My block is nice and clean now, took it down to Wilky's(Machine Shop) and they vatted it, honed it, sold me some new rings, and cleaned some parts up for me, thanks Wilky's. I couldn't describe how much crap and thick gunk and grease was beat into that cast block over the years, it's all gone now and waitin for a fresh Dark Ford Blue paint job!

Motor freshened up and put together

What a difference, she has a pretty good kick outa the hole for a full street car, will be much more efficient once i get a 3.55 posi installed.
