Hey Everyone,

Here we have a truck that I have always wanted, and now I got it. It is a beautiful 1993 Chevrolet Silverado K1500 Shortbed Stepside 4X4 Pickup Truck. I picked this truck up back in 8/07 for $1,200, what a steal, blue book at the time was $6K. This truck started out life as just a "regular" truck done up in Teal Green Metallic, but after it came off the assembly line in '93 it was shipped out to a compnay known as "Advantage Enterprises Inc." (a branch of Mark III, Starcraft, Centurion, Rocky Ridge, etc...) of the early 90's which performed conversions on all kinds of vehicles and who did the conversion on this truck inside and out. Notice the silver, all the pinstripping, and decals on the exterior of the truck.

**UPDATE 10/09/09** - I will be putting on the color matched ground effects package that this truck came with this weekend, which includes fender flares and running boards. I temporarily took them off to do some body work to the infamous cab corners, rocker panels, and front fenders. Unfortunately, when the conversion company put these parts on, they didn't seal them off properly which caused water to get in between the fender and flare when it rained and rot out the front fenders over the wheel wells because the water had no place to drain.  More pictures to come this weekend after all parts are installed.

It is euipped with the Z71 Off Road Package which includes heavy duty Bilstein shocks and skid plates that cover the front differential and transfer case.

It is powered by the legendary RPO Code "L05" 5.7L 350-Cubic Inch Throttle Body Fuel Injected V-8 rated at 210 horsepower and 300 ft. lbs. of torque in stock trim. Currently rated at 240 horsepower and 338 lbs. ft. of torque due to the mentioned upgrades. Transmitting the power to the wheels is done by the RPO Code "M30" 4L60E Automatic Transmission with Overdrive. Please take note that 1993 was the first year for the "E", meaning the trans is "E"lectronically controlled by a computer. Basically, the 4L60E is just a computer controlled 700R-4.

Note the Airaid TBI spacer for increased air flow which "funnels" the air into the TBI for better combustion with the fuel. Good for an extra dyno-proven 17 horsepower and 21 lbs. ft. of torque.

This truck is now equipped with a Hypertech Street Runner Performance Chip that works very nicely. When at W.O.T. (Wide Open Thorttle), it advances the ignition timing and injects more fuel into the motor to give it an  "extra kick in the A$$" The hypertech chip is good for around 13 horspower and 17 lbs. ft. of torque.

The 4WD is contolled by way of "Insta-Trac" Shift-On-The-Fly allowing you to shift into 4-High at any speed, for 4-Low the vehicle must either be stopped or st a rolling speed of 3 M.P.H. and the tranmsission in neutral. Transfering the power of the 4WD is accomplished by a New Process 241 Transfer Case, and a set of 3.73 gears up front and in back. (Note the nice HURST shifter for the 4WD instead of that factory dull black knob.)

The Interior of the truck is very nice, Advantage Enterprises had really came through on this part. They did away with factory cloth bucket seats in favor of gray leather bucket seats manufactured by Goshen Cushion Inc. Along with seating they had also added some other nice touches to the interior. Notice the "Real" wood on the doors, dash, and center console. It is all made of Oak. Up above where the overhead console used is to be is now taken over by some attracitve "mood lighting". Such lighting equipment is used in limosines.

These cup holders were actually designed to hold a real coffee mugs, notice the cut outs for the handles of a coffe mug.

This truck is also equipped with Automatic Climate Control which keeps the interior temp. to whatever you set it at all the time.

The truck used to be equipped with a DELCO AM/FM Radio and Cassette Player with Graphic Equalizer and 4 Delco premium sound speakers but is now taken over by a nice in-dash JVC AM/FM Radio Compact Disc player. Notice the cubby above the climate control where CD's are now held instead of the bulky factory radio. Also take note that where the factory cassette player and equalizer was is where the CD Player resides.

The undercarrige of this vehicle is absolutely beautiful. NO LEAKS WHATSOEVER! not bad for 150,000 miles eh? Transfer case dry, trans pan dry, oil pan dry, rear diff dry, front diff dry.

This truck is in very nice shape with many new parts.

The previous owner had recently put on new lower intake manifold gaskets, new water pump, new upper and lower hoses.

Since I've owned it I have done the follwing work to it:

1. New engine oil cooler lines

2. Complete tune-up which includes new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter, fuel filter, pcv valve, Bosch O2 sensor, EGR Valve, MSD Street Fighter igntion coil,  Goodyear Gatorback serp. belt, idler pulley, and coolant flush. (The above wwork was done becuase it was just at the mileage for when this particular maintenance was due. On these older vehicles, the manufacturer recommended a complete tune-up every 30,000 miles. So for having 150,000 miles on her, this would make it's 5th complete tune-up.)

3. Rebuilt the entire Throttle Body Injection unit which includes all new GP Sorensen gaskets, o-rings, seals, and washers, fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator, throttle position sensor, and idle air control valve. (I rebuilt the TBI unit because these trucks were known for having leaky injectors after high mileage, and for the injectors to get "carboned up" resulting in an uneven spray pattern. And, after putting my timing light on the injectors to watch the spray pattern, I too had seen that these injectors were leaking fuel past the o-rings and loading up the engine with fuel as well as have a poor spray pattern.

3. A full driveline tune-up which includes new front and rear shocks, front sway bar links, left front CV shaft (due to a torn outter CV boot), new front diff. oil, new transfer case oil, new rear diff. oil, new trans. fluid and filter, and a new output shaft seal on the transfer case.

It seems like a lot of work, but since I am an ASE certifed technician, I do all of my own repairs so I save on labor. But do keep in mind that this truck is also 16 years old, has 150,000 miles on it, and all of the above parts were just normal "wear N' tear" parts that were out after a given age and mileage. But now since all this work has been completed, the truck needs nothing, runs like it just came off the showroom floor, and I am planning on keeping this truck for a long time, after all, it's PAID FOR.

Thank you all for visiting my page, hope you enjoyed it :) If anybody has any questions or comments feel free to drop me a line.

I put the chip into and couldnt love it anymore. It was really easy to install. I have only takin it on streets around town no highways yet. I can definatly feel the diffrence. Im running regular gas right now and its running fine to me. I might but a little premium when i finish this tank so see if it runs better than 87.

That kind of sucks about the premium gas but its the price to pay for a little more horsepower.
