April Fool's Eve @ Infineon
i took her out again to infineon. on the way there my car broke into 6 digit mileage...a sad day for sure.
However, i did get to take her racing, and improved my times. here are the slips:

The first run was a warm up run, i ran against a 3000gt, and was surprised at how slow it was(almost as slow as mine!!). I first thought it was an automatic but i later talked to him and saw that it wasn't, but it was his first time racing...
The second slip is from the first round of eliminations which i (believe it or not)beat a brand new 2004 wrx sti!!! It's not as cool as it sounds, the guy's warm up run he dumped the clutch and shocked the engine, and if you look at his 60,330, and 1/8 times he was jamming, but something happened shortly after because he got off it and finished at 50 mph. either way he didnt come close to his 13.5 dial in so i won. so there, i beat an sti, fair and square. The third race was against a newer cavalier that sent me home. oh well, it was fun, and i think i was the only compact there that could say that it beat an sti, so i was satisfied.

FIRST TIME AT THE TRACK
YES, that's right. I took my stock civic to the track on August 3rd. Can you believe that?! why would anyone dyno their stock honda? And, WHY would anyone take it to the strip for time slips?!!?
well, because it was free...almost.
The day started with going to Infineon Raceway (Sear's Point Raceway to you non-conformist, fight-the-power hippies). It was the NHRA Sport Compact Drag Racing. As me and my friends are watching the car's go through practice runs, i hear an announcement that Quaker State is sponsoring FREE dyno runs. i can't resist free. i just can't. so we go in search for this holy grail. when we find it they tell me that i have to be registered to race if i want to dyno my car. so i ask the ticket woman how much that costs ($30), and got the right papers and r. mirror placard to go race. so i drive up to the dyno and get it tested.

ok...so this was a little disapointing. i was hoping for at least 110. but whatever, it was free...almost.
anyways, now that i had finished the dyno, somehow i talk myself into going out onto the track (since i have the pass and everything).
So there i am, track virgin pulling up to the light, not really knowing what i am getting myself into. the lights flash, yellow, yellow, yellow, green. wow. it was good.

ok...my reaction time wasn't very good. OK, it flat out sucked. it was my first try ok. anyways, 17.5 1/4 mile. it was fun...but i didn't get a chance to go back out, the pro's were about to come out for their first runs.
After watching them finish the quarter in less than HALF the time it took me, the announcer starts talking (same guy that announced the FREE dynos, this guy talked me into doing everything, i blame him). he is saying that it is time for the trophy class to go up for runs. this was the class i entered. i could have signed up to win money ($60 to enter) or to win a trophey ($30). apparently, not many people from the trophey class felt like racing, because they still needed to fill 32 positions. no one was going out. i had already told myself that i wasn't going to go out again, but my friends made me...i swear.
so i go out figuring that i would get a free semi-finalst trophey just for being there...but by the time i get there everyone else figured the same thing. but whatever, i was still down to race.
they ask me for my dial-in, and i said 17.4 ( i figured i could improve on my reaction time, but i did fill up my tank inbetween races, the gas was $1.85 for 92 OCTANE! i would be stupid not to have filled). anyways, i go up against a SOHC turbo crx that dialed in at 14.5.

reaction time is still slow, but better.the good part is i NAILED my dial in. i was only .05 seconds off!!! doesn't get any better than that. anyways, i need to practice my reaction time. the day was good. i recomend it to everyone. even if your car is slow.
it was fun as hell.
