The car is a 1971 Chrysler Newport 2 door hardtop, in our family for 25 years or so. Great car, lots of power, rode like a cloud, and a member of the family. So when I was looking for a restoration project and found a 1970 Newport Convertible, same color, same engine, same "fuselage" styling, same mammoth size, I had to have it. I found the car in Buffalo, New York, in overall really nice original condition, all the parts were there, faded paint, some surface rust, and just generally tired after 115,000 miles - far from perfect, but a great start. I became the second owner, and drove it the 400 or so miles home to Jersey. It drove exactly how I remembered. Here is the finished project, along with pics of the restoration process. Rebuilt engine, transmission, suspension components and a nice new coat of paint - ready for another 40 years!
