I took my car to the dealer, Nissan not Infiniti, for an oil change and the bulb is the same but the metal surround for the bulb is different. Like for the H3 it has a circular U shaped notch cut out for the bulb to fit, and the one that is in there has a \__/ shaped notch. I did not get to see the bulb in person. This is just what the mechanic told me. He also said that the clip that holds the bulb in place will not close with the H3 bulb that I have.
Update: Below are the images that another I30/I35 owner sent me of the stock and replacement H3 that should fit, but does not.

UPDATE!!! Got the bulbs in!!! Had my local mech doa little grinding on the bulb housings and they now fit.
