Hi, I'm Steve and this is my 1978 Trans Am.

It has the 400 cubic inch V8, 4 speed manual tranny, and a 3.42 rear end.

This is the car.

The motor is a Pontiac 400cid YT block code and 4x heads which feature a 3-angle valvle job, new springs valves and retainers. It's been completely rebuilt. It's got a RV cam, Edelbrock Performer Intake, 600cfm Performer Series Edelbrock carburetor with electric choke, a new HEI distributor with a re-curve kit set at about 36 degrees total timing and the spark is sent through 8.5mm wires and all new Champion plugs. It's got flat top, .030 over pistons, NOS... rockers, fuel pump, water pump, oil pump & sump, it was all topped off with tall chrome Moroso Valve covers and breathers, a K&N air filter and an open shaker hood. All the machine work was done by professionals at Colorado Custom Cylinder Heads, and I did all the assembly work. The exhaust is spent from the engine via Doug Thorley chrome plated, 3-tube headers and continues through a fully custom 2.5inch pipes with dual cats and flowmasters and an H-pipe to equalize the pressure, this is finished off with twin tip, Trans Am style tips As for the rest of the drivetrain, it's got a new clutch and the 4- speed tranny was rebuilt at U.S. Transmissions, the transmission features a factory equiped Hurst shifter, I added a Hurst T-grip shifter knob. The driveshaft recieved all new U-joints and was balanced. I serviced the 10-bolt 3.42 Posi with a new gasket and gear oil and painted the differential cover GM Blue to match the engine. The radiator was replaced and the interior features new carpet and Auto Meter Sport-Comp 3-3/8" 8,000 RPM Tach and a 120MPH speedometer. It also has Auto Meter's 2-1/16" Electrical Oil Pressure and Water Temperature guagues. The 15x8 inch snowflake rims are from a WS6 car and feature 245/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A's.

With this engine and drivetrain setup, it will easily burn rubber in all four gears.

"Black is beautiful!" Indeed, you have a wonderful machine on your hands. I'm surprised they haven't called and asked you to help them make another "Smokey And The Bandit" movie. Come by and check out Trigger, my '02 T/A. Thanks, Stephen <(] Drive it like you stole it! [)>

Like how you put together the drivetrain in your T/A, sound ideal for a street machine. Looks pretty good too. Let me know when you post more pics. Later
