all you need to do is scrub and wash the plastic parts youre painting with dish soap, so it gets the oil,grease and whatever else off of it. but theres no need to sand and you dont have to prime first but i did just to be safe so thats your call. if you do prime, get the gray duplicolor engine primer and it works perfectly. No problem bro

i used duplicolor engine enamel. its made for metal but kickass on plastic, it hasnt chipped or cracked in the 7 months or so that its been painted. you can buy it at adavance auto for like 7 bucks a can
