Well, they say all good things have to come to an end - and on June 28th, 2008, they did. I was at a friend's graduation party (the day before mine, by the way) and was having a great time. Until we heard horrible banging, screeching and grinding noises - then saw a destroyed Taurus scrape by his house and stop. We all ran out to see what happened and it turned out this guy hit about 9 cars - mine being one of them. =(
He was absolutely trashed and tried running from the accident, only to be taken down by a neighbor and apprehended by the police (which is good - I was ready to kill). This was his THIRD DUI, and he had no license, no insurance and had just gotten out of jail half a year before this incident. The car really needs a lot of work, and when it first happened I was all into fixing it, until I found out that in order for the frame to be straightened, I'd have to replace the inner quarter panel, because it was rotted out. Add that to the list of the other parts: outer quarter panel, door, ground effects, rear axle, front tie rod (and likely other suspension components) and a set of rear tires. It's costly, and I don't have the time for it anymore.
Here are the heartbreaking photos (I'm waiting on my friend for the accident-scene pictures).
These are the photos the day I had it towed to the frame shop (who told me it'd rip in two if they tried to pull it)
The car looks so sad...=(
