PLEASE CHECK OUT MY TOYOTA PICKUP AND LEAVE ME SOMETHING SAYING HOW U HATE IT OR LOVE IT,,,I WILL POST ANYTHING NEW WHEN I CAN, ANY PROJECTS, ILL TRY TO KEEP TRACK OF AND POST THEM    rate me 5 stars!!

back in october, 2008, i purchased a 87 toyota pickup truck 4wd for a grand, it has 105,xxx on it, the 4wd was out due to missing hubs, and the frame was in need of some work. also there is a bad wheel bearing (see page 2 for directions) that i will soon need to pay attention to, there were 29 inch thornbird tires mounted on aluminum rims to get me rollin thru the trail, or down the road

i will be using it as a winter ride, and a off roader to keep my cobalt nice

here are some of the pics of when i first got it, of course, i had to get it stuck five minutes after i got it home, haha

my brother had some 32" bfg mud terrains on rims, so i bolted them up for a quick lift and performance gainkillimports's 1987 Toyota Pickup

one of the first things i did to this truck , was swap out the no hubs for some brand new superwinch locking hubs, now she has true 4wd,  the next step was to redo the timing chain cover, it was leaking oil pretty hadly when i first picked it up. so with the help of a friend, and some time, we got the cover gasket replaced, and did the water pump too

this truck was in need of some work, a few months after purchase, the frame broke on me wile i was offroading it, so i limped it home, pulled the bed (horrible job since the bolts were rusted together!)

killimports's 1987 Toyota Pickup

after some welding, and fabrication, we got the frame back together, we had to cut some metal out and weld it in place of the old rusted thru thin spots on the frame, this was the first project like this i have ever done, it was fun, and i learned how to use the welder pretty good, along with some cutting tools, all in all id say its a 5/10 on difficulty, and  10/10 on time consumingness

this is a picture of her sitting out on a snowy day without its gas tank, or bed on her

after the snow, i proceeded to lenghten the frame a bit, to make it stick out of the back of the bed , so i can run a bumper, the stock frame stopped about 7 inches under the bed

killimports's 1987 Toyota Pickup after doing the frame, the stock bed didnt quite fit, so i had to trim the piece out from underneath the tailgate (it is already cut in this picture)

killimports's 1987 Toyota Pickup  this is how the bed was sitting before i trimmed it to sit on the frame evenly,, not too pretty

killimports's 1987 Toyota Pickup

killimports's 1987 Toyota Pickup  after i did the frame repairs, and fitted the bed back on, this is how it lines up, a little off, but not much, maybe a loosen of the bed, and a push will straighten things out, i will mess with this at another time, i am not worried about it now

killimports's 1987 Toyota Pickup this is a side view after i cut the bed to fit the frame, the rear lights are not installed on it yet,,, gotta love the "lift off" doors, just open the door and lift it straight off to go doorless!!

killimports's 1987 Toyota Pickup  this is a new pic as of 09, before i took it out to drive it for the first time since it had reconstrucive frame surgery

killimports's 1987 Toyota Pickup  a front on face shot of the truck, it shall never look this nice again after i start driving it

this is some of the finest wirk ever done on a computer, this is jus a quick sketch of the bumper i may consider, the rest of the black tubing will be hidden behind the stock bumper, also did the side rockers, and a very detailed skid plate,,, haha

i know this doesnt look professional, it took 3 min, wile my friend sat and laughed at it ,it should add the protection i need tho

3-5-9, time to do the frint wheel bearings, i found out that the left side was shot, and the right side wasnt that bad, so i just changed the left side

SEE PAGE 2 FOR DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO DO IT!!

what an ifs looks like under the manual hub, this is a 2 1/8" nut, or i think 55mm works too

after i got this project done, i lock the hubs in and GRUNT its making the horrid noise still,  it does it when the transfer case is in  2 and 4wd.... axle maybe? other bearings? i dunno

3-7-9    finally decided to take the truck a lil off roadin, i pulled in expectin to get mud on the tires, i ended up goin balls deep and gettin her covered!

This was the first off roading i really done with er since i bought it, but i can say it completely amazed me where it would go!, i got myself out of a rut, bumper deep, i ran into a truck rut sideways, and eventually it dug itself out!

Thanks for the comments man. My girlfriend and I have put a lot of time into our project truck. It still needs some more lift and tires though. We just picked up some brand new 5.29 gears and install kits from a guy for only 300 bucks. Can't wait to put those in. Keep an eye out for more picks soon. By the way, that's a cool truck!
