I bought this car when I was junior in highschool, May '06.  I already had a 93 240 but it was quickly becoming a piece of shit so i picked up this one to build with plans to slide it.  It started out pretty simple.

-proper KA-T

-wheels/tires

-coilovers

-suspension arms

But then I looked at my income, and decided that a turbo may be a little too much for a high school budget.  I changed plans to just go high compression NA with a good cam.  Tore the motor down, took it to the machine shop to bore it out, clean it up, and rebuild the head.  Total was around $550.  I didnt touch the car for a good long time except for ordering some of the suspension.  About $2500 for sway bars, RUCAs, toe arms, traction arms, coilovers, and tension rods.  Then I graduated.  I started working full time and got a raise to $10/hr.  I started working anywhere from 8 to 13 hours 5-6 days a week to make money to finish the car.

I then sold ALL my KA/KA-T stuff and ordered a redtop SR20.  Took out a $8000 loan for parts so I could finish the car quickly!  I ordered everything I thought I would need including wheels and tires, which were 17x9 +20 and 17x10 +12 5zigen FN01RCs with 225/45 Front and 245/40 rear Federal 595s.

Ordered everything I planned on.  But found I didnt account for lots of things.  Like the factory T25 being blown, harness being fucked up, missing ignitor, etc.  The blown T25 led to a T28, which led to a T2871R which of course would need a N62 Maf, bigger injectors (went with 550cc), and a tuned ECU.  In the end I spent over $20,000 on this car.  Lots of it was constantly upgrading things and not being satisfied.  Brakes, turbo, suspension arms, tie rod set ups, tires.

Then in September '08... I finally finished the car.

Ignore that terrible camber in the last pic.  Alignment machine read it as negative 2.2 to 3 degrees.  Dont remember which but that was clearly a lie.  It is correct now.

I drove it to my first event in Pungo, VA hosted by Sumospeed and LKT.  The two hour drive was wonderful!  It drove no problems on the way down, gas mileage was good, pulled hard and strong, small oil leak but that was no big deal... at the time.

When we got there, I paid my $125 to slide, parked the car, and started swapping out wheels and tires and getting the car ready for the track.  Passed my tech inspection and walked the course with the other drivers.  When it came time to slide, spark to Cyl 3 was gone.  Power steering pump had cracked.  And the oil leak was gushing.  WTF!!!  We spent the whole day trying to fix it with no results.  So we waited out the rest of the day watching everyone slide and trying to make the best of it until it was time to limp home.

The drive home was terrible!  Felt like the car was down to 100hp from its 320+!  I had to stop several times for gas and oil.  It was dumb.  The car has been back on jack stands ever since.  Hopefully soon it will be back on the road!
