I bought this Garrett Gt2871R ball bearing turbo for my TGP then decided to buy this 1988 GPSE with a 3400 SFI motor swap already completed by the same guy who I bought the turbo from. He is an engineer back east who works on jet planes for a living and does all kinds of crazy motor swaps on his free time.
The car has all kinds of special upgrades from suspension on up, with a mint condition gray cloth AQ9 option interior. same interior that comes in all the turbo GP's with 16 way power lumbar seats and he even put in heads up display (HUD). It came with a Spec stage 3 clutch, CS144 alt., KYB GR2 struts all around, bigger rear sway bar, tint, Innovative LC1 wideband O2 sensor with a custom tune running on turbo code and all wired up with a blue LED readout on the dash. even blows cold AC!
So I am getting all the last few parts I need to get the turbo bolted on and get this thing boosted. It is already running excellent on turbo code and has plenty of power so I know its going to be awesome once its all done. Back when he had the stock 2.8 EFI motor boosted with this turbo on it he dyno'd it and I saw the sheet, it was putting out 300HP/300TQ which is amazing for that motor. But he really knows what he is doing and works with Adam P. who is helping me do this new setup with the 3400. Adam is going to be making my downpipe and also build a set of heads for me with LS1 valve springs and a mild port job. Oh, and modify some TGp exhaust manifolds so I can bolt on a turbo crossover.

Here it is, with some Mustang SVT rims I got for it, 17x9"s with 265/40/ZR Falkens. I am still dealing with a little vibration at around 55-75 mph and don't know if I would recommend these for a w-body car just yet. I will report back on this vibration issue, but the car corners like mad and just won't let go.
Only 84k miles on the car and 52k on the motor, unbelievable condition for an '88, 21 years old! only paid $3000 for it!
but I got all this into it already:
$3000, car/$800 shipping/$1024 turbo/$910 wheels,tires= $5734 so far. edit:plus just spent $330 on exhaust and $90 on hood louvers. so $6154, adds up quick!
This is the 1988 Pike's Peak Racer and is my inspiration for this project and all my four GM 10 platform Grand Prix's. I got some louvers and a hood I am working on and will be painting them white soon and I ordered a 3" stainless exhaust for it also so thas soon as I get these two projects under way I will be back with more pics.
