My friend Will has always been a Chevy guy, used to cruise in a '73 Impala. Unfortunately that car is no more. But, after driving my '87 GT, he has turned to the Ford side! So we began talking about finding him a foxbody of his own...
One of my co-workers at Alamo Classic Mustang had a '80 Capri sitting at his house, that his wife wanted gone. It's a retired 460 drag car, now stripped to the bare shell, no drivetrain, suspension, interior... nothing. He hated the idea of sending it to the scrapyard, so he sold her to us. And so it began...
We tracked down some spindles and a rear end. Will had the 8.8 completely rebuilt with 3.27 gears. Then we called up the guy who bought my '93 LX from me, and of course, wrecked it. As luck would have it, he still had it sitting in storage. Ater stripping it down, I put the Ponys on my '87. Then the 8.8, spindles, and turbines went under the Capri, and we hauled it down to the shop.
