This is the result of sitting outside in the weather and being neglected for almost 12 years.
My Dad and I restored this car when I was in high school but after I graduated I moved to Nevada then moved around for a while until I finally settled in West Point, MS. Then around July of last year I decided to attempt to make this car what I wanted it to be when I was younger.
We originally painted this car using lacquer, however we didn't realize that without a proper coat of etching primer we were wasting our time. That's part of the reason that the paint began flaking off and the car began to develop some surface rust. The first step was going to be stripping everything back down to bare metal.

I live in Amory, Ms. I have a 70 fastback also. I am in the process of building it. I have the car in my shop in Tupelo right now. I had to replace the tail panel and half of the trunk pan but that is all the rust the car has (I have gone over the whole car). I think I lucked up with this one. I have a lot of plans for it. I would like to come and see yours sometime. If you have any extra parts, please let me know, I need a couple of different things but not much.
NICE JOB ON THE CAR NICE ALL5S

Great project man! 5 stars from me!
Nice looking project you got there. Thanks for checking out my car. It actually is Raven Black now; it was Black Jade when it left the factory so you have a good eye ;)
