NEWEST NEWS: Put the front turbo on and drove her around my neighborhood and built boost pretty decently considering i had a cracked manifold. Went to drive her to dinner about 2-3 weeks ago and made it about 9 miles then I blew the motor....after putting the turbo back on...I put oil and coolant back in, but I forgot to bleed the coolant lines...so Kenan said I might've thrown rods, warped cylinders, pistons and maybe even the crank. He said I also might've dropped a valve.
So it's going to be about a year before I have money to do anything with her. I'm going to start with a new block and build a full racing motor, then after dropping it in, I'm going to take teh stock motor and rebuild it so I can have a spare motor. So not much will happen with this for about a year or a little more...any advice on what I should do when I rebuild it, just message or comment me.
OLD NEWS: Started her up yesterday to set the timing. After me and my friend got that done, I drove her for a minute, but it wasn't building up boost past 7. The oil pressure says its low as hell, so I'm gonna be tryin to fix that for a while.
Ok, so here's some of the story behind this car.
I had a 2000 Mazda Protege Es(aka P.O.S.), and was trying to get rid of it so I could get a VR4. So I had it up on craigslist tryin to sell it or trade for a VR4. So my friend, Kenan, calls me while I'm waiting to see the premier of The Dark Knight, and says he wants to trade me a VR4 for my Protege. I was awestruck that someone wanted my piece of shit protege! So, I cleaned it up and drove over to his house and saw that his VR4 was being worked on. I was getting kinda wary about the trade, but I was like I don't care, i'm getting a VR4.
So...his wife changed her mind and didn't want my Protege so the trade was off ):
I kept goin over to his house to help him rebuild his VR4 (and learn how to work on them so when I got one, I'd know how) in hopes that I'd be able to sell my Protege to have the funds to buy it off him.
In the meantime, I sold my Protege for $2000 and got my camaro for $9500, which is amazing, but I still wanted a VR4.
So about 4-6 months after the original trade thought, which is about 2-3 months after the last time I had gone over to Kenan's house to help, I accidentally called him on my cell phone. So he calls me back and we talked for a minute, then I was askin him about his VR4 and if he had got it running yet. He said that he did and he was tryin to sell it so he can get another one up and running...I asked how much and he told me $2000. So I talked to my parents and was tryin to get a loan for 2grand to get it. I told him that I was gonna get it for sure and he said he had someone lookin at it for $2500 and I told him I could do that too.
So I finally talked my parents into lending me $2500, and I got this kickass VR4, then went to Cali to pick up Kenan's new one, a 1995 Pearl White VR4. You can see it here: HVYARMZ
At the bottom of the page, there are 4 different colors of my vr4, I did these real quick in photoshop to see which color I would like the most and still can't decide, so I'm polling you guys to see which one would be liked the most. Take the poll on the left...
FUTURE MODS:
I am going to get a vacuum reduction. - I have the blockoff plates and a SlowBoy Racing boost controller. - $90 altogether
I really want to get a 1st Gen GTO rear garnish to replace my mitsu one.- Got one!! was like $50
I want to get a carbon fiber moon roof.-$450
I want to upgrade the turbos, but that will happen a little later.
I want to do a 99 body conversion. I don't know if I want to keep the pop up headlights or not though...
I want to get a front mount intercooler.
I'm gonna get it painted after I do body mods. I'm debating on whether or not to get it powder coated or just 2 or 3 stage paint.
