THE MOTOR SWAP: D15B7 to B17A1(Type R)
The B17a is one of the few rare engines you can lay your hands on. With approximately 2200 ever produced, I was lucky enough to score one for a good deal! Now I know some people think it's overrated but here's the thing...it's fully rebuilt with Type-R internals: pistons, cams, plenty of head work including a mill job. But here's the down side: the difference between my 93 Civic chassis vs. the new GSR/ITR motor; the car is hydraulic and the new tranny is cable. A simple call to Hasport fixed that for a conversion. A hydro tranny is what I'll want to use as a replacment in the future but this works for now.
As the old motor is being discarded for big brother, I take time to swap around some minor parts here and there ensuring I have everything for the drop. Below is the Hasport shift linkage.

I left the wiring harness intact and here's a pic of the old engine sitting by its lonesome.

B vs. D side by side. This sits here as I prep it for the drop and I had to take off the clutch housing to align the clutch itself.

Threw in a Fidanza 5.4 cluth set...yes it's an unsprung clutch! Grip force is powerful
Just to show you it is a B17 =)

Almost done. Motor is now bolted in snug and tight. As you can see I had to use Hasport's cable conversion for the hydro system to move the shift arm on the tranny.
