1981 Mi tsubishi Scorpion
Bought it second hand in June 2008
314kks on the clock but the engine
has been swapped by a previous
owner for a later model and higher
compression version of the same
thing.
Engine:
1987 Astron II
2.6L (2 555cc/156cui n) Crossflow Hemi
M2 Cylinder Head
Stock internals for both block and head
Standard cam
Twin 40DCOE side draft Webers
on Redline manifold
Extractors to 2.25" straight through
exhaust
Red paint to add an instant 9kw boost
Clutch/Drivetrain:
Cable clutch
5spd Jap box (4 + overdrive)
3.308 ratio rear end
All standard..
So who wants more pics?
More recent additions:
Wheels:
Stockies:
14x5.5" lightweight alloys
195/70 Yokohama S760's
(Trying to sell these.. please take them :P)
Newies:
17x8" front, 17x9" rear - Stich rims
235/40 on all 4 (need spacers for clearance,
hence only back wheels on atm, and only 235's)
Sound:
Kenwood KDC-mp238 200w Mp3 head unit
2 x 200w Sony 6x9's 3-way up front
2 x 1000w Kingwood 6x9's 8-way in the back
Kingwoods might be overkill, but they were cheap and sound good
Might have pics up of them soon.
FUTURE PLANS:
Body:
70's style Dodge Challenger widebody rear end - fibreglassed
Torana A9X front spoiler, bonnet scoop and ducktail rear spoiler
Paint gloss black with gloss white roof (partway through)
aka like this:
Engine:
Block rebuild mainly for strength purposes..
Forged Pistons of some variety
Maybe new forged rods.. dunno yet
M7 astron II head, simply because its the highest flowing stock head + further porting/reconditioning if necessary etc
Eaton M90 (or similar) twinscrew supercharger, single 45DCOE weber on the intake side and plumbed directly into the head from the other side
Eventually... NOS injection
Driveline:
Starion hydraulic clutch setup with heavy duty plates, or cable with an excedy button clutch
Supra W58 box (or if I find something else with good ratios and STRONG)
Low ratio diff - LSD/Locker/welded.. whichever it ends with, probably temporary welding until I find a proper one
Widest stickiest slicks that will fit
Now obviously some of these things (eg nos, welded diff, slicks) cant be used on the street, but will be used as temporary things on a drag strip before reverting to a more streetable setup afterward.
If I ever do finish this project, then I'll make sure to get it properly engineered with mod plates and all to make it re-registerable and roadworthy etc.. aka totally legit
