1979 Pontiac TRANS AM

   jimmybee's 1979 Pontiac Trans Am

Unfortunately I don't have alot of pictures of what the car looked like before I started.

I can tell you that it had the wrong springs in front and back and Florida killed the interior.  As you can see the sheet metal wasn't in the best shape either.

However the underside was solid and it was mine.

When I started this project I knew it would take some time.  I had no idea how much!!!  In the end I couldn't be happier with the results.  I can't wait to start on the next project...

After media blasting we discovered the car was caught in a really bad hail storm sometime in its life.  The body work method the previous owner used was fill it in with bondo!!  This took alot of time to pull this back up with stud pins.

The car originally had factory AC.  When I purchased the car the evaporator and remaining components were gone.  I decided a smooth firewall would look better.  However it does get cool so there is a heater system installed with hidden heater hoses through the fire wall.

New SDPerformance spec'd 455 with ??? bore and compression with full fulcrum roller system - better idle and I like brakes.

Orange is my favorite color. I never thought is would see it on a Trans Am but you did a hell of a job with it. I was wondering if you were going to put the bird on the hood. That is one of my fav parts on my Trans AM.

Wow Jim, Very nice restoration. Its always nice to see another Trans Am survive the crusher. As many 79 Firebird's that were produced, it seems they are getting harder to find, especially in good shape. Damn nice job, ist class all the way.
