These are first pictures of our Willys that I found on Craigslist Nov. 2008. Origionally I was looking for an AMC Eagle SX/4 but it was too hard to pass up and it did have 4 wheel drive.

We picked her up for $875.00 from somewhere near Kalamazoo MI, this is her coming to her new home. We got quite a bit of stares and heads turned as we brought her home, she will I imagine cause more of a stir when she is done. She actully runs drives and handles quite well. Her top was chopped and lowered 3 inches already when we got her. She however came with some extra parts. She has her origional inline 6 cycl. Or Flathead 6, L6-226 Supper Hurricane engine. Many of her parts are origional, however like many survivors she has some hodge podge parts from other wagons over the years.

The following will be about her restoration / modification. The last page will have a Parts Needed or Wish list if you have these Items please email me!

Day One: of restoration / modification.  First off, please let me start by saying we (my partner and I) believe cars/trucks should be driven. They where made to go on and off road not to sit on some trailer or in some garage and never start or run. Willy will become a daily driver again when she is done. So our first day was a little more difficult than we expected. We had 7 degree weather and she was really cold from sitting for the past few months tarped up until we could get working on her. We didn't want to try and run her too much so we ended up pushing and towing her into the garage. Which took most of the day.

Day two: I started to get myself familar with the existing wiring and what was the origional cloth wiring. Most of the wires have been cut or are no longer connected.  Sharon began removing the side panels as we had decided we wanted to put the windows back in. I also took off all of the origional oak floor boards. Here are the pictures from the end of the days work.

We found more rust spots and fiberglass patches than we really wanted but over all most of the metal is in really good condition.

Hi there! Great Work on your Wagon! I like all the pics you've taken. I am impressed with your progress! Are you going to keep the original chassis and drive line? I plan to have my 63 Wagon's body work completed by the end of next summer. I must complete my wagon before I start my next project. I bought a 57 Willys Pickup that I want to do a Willys/Chevy Chassis Conversion to. Check out my two vehicles when you have a chance. I will be parting out the entire 57 Pickup original chassis. It does have a Warn Overdrive on it. Let me know if you are interested in any of these parts. Keep up the good work on your Wagon and keep posting your progress. I am doing the same thing with my Wagon's progress on here too. Take care! John

You two are sick and dedicated. My red wagon has rust that bad. I decided to ditch it in favor of the 53 I was lucky enough to find. Great work though. You are inspireing me to attack some of the areas in my body myself....and maybe even get the 57 going again.

I will be using the entire drive train from the 05 Rubicon. The 226 wont be used at all. Take a closer look at my page to see how well the willys fit the TJ. Casey
