THE STORY:
This Hartge M3 CSL was built by Hartge in Germany in april 2003. The idea was to create a car with the best from both worlds, meaning the sportyness from M3 CSL and all the comfort details from the M3 such as the the regular M3 sports seats and navi, making it more sutable for daily driving whereas the BMW M3 CSL is more track oriented.
Hartge worked really hard to be able to do this project since BMW's policy didn't allow OEM CSL parts to be used on any vehicles other than their own M3 CSLs (aprox 1400 where made). I have heard that this car was special ordered from another Hartge reseller in Germany and later presented on a car show in 2003 when the BMW M3 CSL first came to the market. This particular M3 was actually never meant for the open marked when it was built but still it ended up in Norway in 2005.
This car was based on a brand new empty E46 shelter from BMW and put together with all new M3 and CSL parts. It has a uniqe HARTGE VIN-NR which states the fact that this is a Hartge M3 CSL . That way it's also easy for the owner to order OEM CSL parts directly from any BMW dealer.
Hartge did only make one M3 like this one but I have heard rumors saying there might be one or two more in different colors but that hasn't been verified. I know for sure they did make one true M3 CSL in 2005 which I believe is identical to BMWs M3 CSL except it was equiped with the Navi and H/K sound system.
Hartge also built several M3 H50 which is equiped with 5.0L V8 engine. This is a totally different car with Hartge exteror (hood, bumpers, centered exhaust pipes, emblems etc)...
PS. I will update more pictures and movies in the future.
