This is my '72 super beetle corvette blue and pearl. originally purchased in California but spent most of its years in Arizona and finnaly ended up here in virginia beach in 2002. And yes its true what they say about arizona vehicles...there is a little rust but its only surface rust that i have been able to find so far except for under the back seat where the battery sits. 1679cc engine with dual kadrons, engle 110 cam.
8/30/09: engine is being completely bebuilt....more details when the case comes back from the machine shop

It looks like your bug was fitted with an aftermarket remote oil filter adapter. It helps to filter the oil and keep it cooler than the stock unti does. Also dual Kadrons are a great combo with a larger than stock cam, engle is pretty much one of the best cams for bugs on the market. Also I would suggest another great addition that would be a perfect addition to that current setup would be some ratio rocker arms. If you are looking for some parts I would suggest www.thesamba.com or www.toplineparts.com Or I would simply purchase a Hot Vws magazine and order from some of the retailers listed in their magazine. I wouldn't advise getting exterior parts from Jcwhitney as they are not very good quality. The mechanical parts they carry seem to be good though but bumpers and carpet sets and stuff like that are less than OEM quality BUT they are cheaper on the wallet. It all depends on what your intentions are for the car. Hope all this helps!
