A mock up of the axle.. well kinda.

(some may be thinking that "man that shop looks small" and ill have you know it is! there is hardly any room to walk between the truck and wall, but it sure beats doing it outside!!!)

Scrap pile

YotaOFFroad27's 1987 Toyota 4Runner

As you can see i have mocked up the hole set up. once the Rotor gets here the left side of the axle will be done, then all the welding can start. also check out the TOYOTA axle brace on top.

YotaOFFroad27's 1987 Toyota 4Runner

Finally we started welding on june 15th 2009, it has been along road to get here and still so much to go... we are using a stick welder because we have nothing else.. and where the 4runner is there is no 220V. so we had to bring out the generator th power it. but it was not strong enough so we got it as good as we could there now we have to move the truck down to the house to get to true 220. so maybe sometime before christmas it will be done

YotaOFFroad27's 1987 Toyota 4Runner

To all of you who know...  this is what a stick weld looks like... it is very VERY VERY ughly yes i know but nothing a little grinding wont take care of..

YotaOFFroad27's 1987 Toyota 4Runner

Ok FINALLY!!! its rollin june 16th 2009 No brakes,No shocks, No bump stops No streering stabalizer,... the left hub is just peaced together and so i can roll it to the house to finish welding it all up

YotaOFFroad27's 1987 Toyota 4Runner

Drove out side w/ no brakes to get to the 220V. thats about 6 or 7" more than stock.. those are 31s i have 35s for it. the rear is stock w/ the toyota back sag of about 1 or 2"s

YotaOFFroad27's 1987 Toyota 4Runner

Ok so its been raining for 4days, and the front driveshaft is about 4"s to short even fully exstended... so basicly its 2wheel drive w/ an open rear diff... and the 4runner got stuck in wet grass trying to go up a hill to the backside of the house...... nice... less that 200yards out f the gate and its stuck.....

YotaOFFroad27's 1987 Toyota 4Runner

finally we got to where we can do some welding, on the upper right side of the pic is where it got stuck doesnt look to bad but its a step hill when wet

YotaOFFroad27's 1987 Toyota 4Runner

OK FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i put my boggers on!  6-29-09

YotaOFFroad27's 1987 Toyota 4Runner

Ok here we have the 4runner out testing out the new gear, the front is all trail gear stuff the sas kit, the rear FOR NOW is a 3" block and some very cheap auto zone shackles. i know i know these shackles are a no no but i needed a cheap lift and in total the rear kit was $25 i already had the blocks and u bolts so i just bought the shackles.

YotaOFFroad27's 1987 Toyota 4Runner

here is a pic of the cheap rear lift, go ahead and hate but its only a temp till i get the  rear lift!

YotaOFFroad27's 1987 Toyota 4Runner

LOVING IT!!!! i put a bumper on it at the damand of mom and GF to picked this one up till i get a stinger! just to give you an idea the hood is 4' 10"s off the ground!

YotaOFFroad27's 1987 Toyota 4Runner

Sweet rig, and i'll take your advice, but jsyk, I only spend my money on my rig... the only money my dad's sent on it was to buy it in 87.

Nice SAS going there! Funny, I had that same heater valve break on my 4Runner too. I got a new one from Toyota. I don't remember the price, but I'm sure it was an arm and leg! Good luck with the motor swap and keep us updated. 5 Stars!
