Welcome to my IMSA Challenger page!

In the mid seventies, while I was still in my twenties, I wanted to race a faster IMSA road race car in endurance races. The only way this could happen would be for me to entirely build my own car for monetary reasons.

The Hemi Challenger pictured is the second complete Hemi car that I've built and raced. The first one was too heavy to be competitive. The car pictured here is the second one I built in 1978. It weighed about 2500 lbs with over 800 HP.

The passenger area is all Dodge steel with my tube frame design running through it. The engine is used as a stressed member. I made the body molds, the final panels, and painted the car myself. It took hundreds of hours to finish.

I also did all of the mechanical work, assembled the engines and transmissions. Plus I had to make the whole package work and boy did it!

After a few successful races, I parked it when Chrysler went bankrupt in late 1979, then sold the engines in 1981.

In 2003 I promised myself to spend 3 hours a day on it until it ran again. In the summer of 2005, it raced at VIR, running under 2 minute laps right out of the box!

That's a 750 HP 935 Porsche Turbo that stayed back there at VIR.

Outstanding job in the '09 UTCC. I hope to be able to participate in an upcoming event (should I *ever* complete my project). Please stop by and let me know what you think. Best wishes!
