1972_mustang's 1972 Ford Mustang

This is my 1972 mustang when i bought it in september. This is my first car. It has a 351C FMX trans. Runs and drives just needs a trans leak fixed.

Another picture when I first got it.

1972_mustang's 1972 Ford Mustang

This is the interior prior to cleaning. has full guages including tach. Horn is temporarily fixed. The current radio is a kenwood cassette deck that does not work and will be replaced with a pioneer unit.

1972_mustang's 1972 Ford Mustang

This is the interior being cleaned. All guages were remove and cleaned. Shifter and console have also be cleaned and repaired. New rug will be in during spring or summer. This rug is the mach 1 rug with running ponies.

This is the front end detail and repaint. radiator support and headlight buckets stripped and repainted. The rest of the engine bay will be painted in spring or summer.

Under hood picture. Has 351C 2 barrel. Air cleaner was sandblasted and repainted. New plugs and wires will be done in spring and summer.

Finally back outside. This is after I spent a week rubbing it out with rubbing compound. bumper is also straightened and fender tips primered. The rubber strips on the guards were aslo replaced with strips of V belt screwed to the brackets.

Side view. Has 14" cragars all around. took a week to clean them. The one in back was done after this picture. Has some primer spots.

Other side. Some primer.

1972_mustang's 1972 Ford Mustang

This shows where the worst rust was. the red primer at the top of tail light panel was where the trunk lip started to rust through. Patches to fix already made. The filler panel between lights was in the trunk.

1972_mustang's 1972 Ford Mustang

Worst damage on the car. Was like this when I bought it. Temporarily primed it and put marker light in trunk. Rear bumper will also be removed and straightened .

1972_mustang's 1972 Ford Mustang

New package tray that I made using masonite and vinyl. This is prior to the vinyl. The speakers are polk audio 6X9 coaxial.

1972_mustang's 1972 Ford Mustang

This is my new dome light. Paid $4 from the junkyard. Has two aviation lights too. Will properly wire and mount when I have the new headliner put in.

1972_mustang's 1972 Ford Mustang

Better picture of fixed wheel and guages. There is only 64,000 miles believed to be original.

1972_mustang's 1972 Ford Mustang

Close up of bumper guards. Look better than the old ones.

1972_mustang's 1972 Ford Mustang

Package tray almost finished. Vinyl glued on. Only needs speakers wired and screwed in.

1972_mustang's 1972 Ford Mustang

Latest interior picture. Seats still look pretty good so I'll probably recover them later on.

New pictures coming soon just took off the rear bumper and will be cleaning and rebuilding it. All the brackets were repainted. The front bumper guards were also removed-looks better that way. Also just pulled the hood off and will have the hinges repainted and vacuum and emission canister.

1972_mustang's 1972 Ford Mustang

License plate light restored.

1972_mustang's 1972 Ford Mustang

Old brakes. Has airshocks.

1972_mustang's 1972 Ford Mustang

New brakes. New drums, shoes, and hardware.

Nice work! I just got a new project car, which is a 1967 Mustang Hardtop. I'm only 16, but hell, I'm decent with cars. My 72 is sort of tired nowadays, so I'll probably be rebuilding the engine and putting in a 4 barrel after I'm done with this other car. 5 stars.
