Hello, fellow Cardomainers!
This is my 1974 Cadillac Calais! This wonderful and rare Cadillac is an all stock survivor from the lands of "little old Lady-ville"! I traveled into the Cascade mountains during a snow storm to get this beauty. With a pair of studded snow tires on the rear and the stock limited slip rearend, I had no problems getting off of the frozen mountain back to Seattle.
This Calais was owned by a little old Lady who loved it and it shows. I'm the third legal owner and will never sell this amazing Cadillac! It has minor wear and tear and needs very little. In 1974, Cadillac made only 4,449 of these huge cars compared to 112,201 Coupe DeVilles!
It's equipped with the legendary and powerful Cadillac 472cid (7.7L) V8 backed with a three speed automatic. Although this beast is almost 20 feet long, it's surprisingly agile and nimble. With the HEI and a decent tune up, I'm getting 20 mpg on the freeway at 65 mph.
I plan on keeping this beast as stock as possible but that may change. Of course I'll put on dual exhaust, but not many more modifications or deviations from factory. With the stock front disc brakes, shoulder seat belts and the high energy ignition, there's not much more room or need for modernization.
I'll refreshen the exterior with a new white paint job and new bumper fillers when I'm able. The interior is great with just one rip on the passenger seat but could use a stereo; although the rumble of the 472cid V8 is music enough for my ears!
This thing purrs down the road with comfort and style!
Thank you all very much!
