This is the basic Avensis 2.0 SR as I bought it.
The standard 2.0 SR is pretty well equipped, smooth to drive and comes with 126 bhp.
The first thing I did was give it a full valet; then have the pads changed and sand down the calipers.
I had a friend renew all of the brake pipes too.
This is one solid motor, and drives like a well cared for machine. After sanding down the calipers I painted them red which gave it added sports appeal.
Next it was the rear drums; which were in much need of attention!
The drums came up pretty smooth under all that dirt and surface rust.
The red enamel paint works wonders.
The front and lower silver mesh grills have now been painted black.
I have added the retro twin stripe with Toyota logos to give it a distinctive look.
I've added my own SR badge to the grill, and discreet livery to the front skirts. I love the way the blue paint changes colour so vividly in different light conditions.
After much consideration and experiencing the improved performance of my friend's Civic type r with fitted new air filter; I decided I would get one too. The pick up and acceleration give my SR just the right balance of improved performance sensible upgrade I needed. Next job, to refurbish that lovely engine!
Finally I have managed to find the right alloy wheels! I have chosen original Toyota Celica wheels as these wheels not only suit the car; but they are genuine performance alloys with low profile tyres.
Now this car really does drive and look great.
